In case the 2017 fire season is just a ‘hazy’ memory, then the recent California fires, with the loss of several thousand homes, should be a jolting wakeup call. As another unusually mild winter is passing, the greatest threat to our homes comes during fire season.
Your Watch Lake-North Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department has been exploring all possibilities for fire suppression in and near your homes. Despite the threat of forest fires, one of the greater threats are fires caused by human activity within our own community. Did you know that once a house catches on fire, the whole neighborhood is at a greater risk than if just the forest was on fire?

Whether the fire starts within your neighborhood or the surrounding forest, things that you can easily do around your home may make the difference in saving your home and your community.
