About Us

The mission of the Watch Lake-North Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department (WLNGLVFD) is to protect life, property, and the environment from fires and related disasters.  The fire department provides the highest level of ability when responding to these types of emergencies.  We also have agreements with the Lone Butte Fire Department and the South Green Lake Fire Department to provide mutual aid to each other when needed.

The Watch Lake–North Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department is made up entirely of volunteer members who are dedicated to regular training programs that provide them with the skills to respond to fire emergencies in a safe and highly professional manner.  Its official mailing address is: 5771 Green Lake North Road, 70 Mile House, B.C. V0K 2K1.  Please direct all correspondence to this location.

We have two fire halls in our fire district.  The Shorty Horn Hall (Hall #1) is located near Watch Lake at 6303 Pioneer Road and the Sonny Johnson Hall (Hall #2) is located at 5771 Green Lake North Road on the shore of North Green Lake. Our members train weekly to firefighting standards and take part in the B.C. Firefighter Certification Program.

Our firefighters are on-call twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week and will respond to fire-related threats as soon as possible.  Full-time and part-time residents can apply to become members of the WLNGVFD by contacting Fire Chief Andy Palaniak at 250-456-7460.
