New Turnout Gear Acquired by Fire Department

WLNGLVFD has replaced 15 sets of firefighter turnout gear to comply with the NFPA (turnout gear expiry requirements) at a cost of $50,000. A 2022 Volunteer and Composite Fire Department Training & Equipment Grant from the Union of BC Municipalities assisted in this purchase. The Department was able to accomplish this without any assistance from the CRD.

The Department also purchased a new Fire Pumper Engine, and it arrived in July 2021 (pictured below). The Fire Pumper Engine was purchased with the assistance of a BC Lottery Capital Gaming Grant, tight fiscal management, and a donation from one of the residents.
