Fire Prevention

There are more than 2,000 wildfires annually in B.C.  Most occur far away from communities, but as people continue to build homes in remote locations, fires are impacting more and more residential areas.  As a homeowner, you can take simple steps to reduce the chance of a wildfire near your home.  It pays to be proactive, practical and FireSmart.  Visit the B.C. Wildfire Management link on the “Prevention Education” tab, where you can download the FireSmart Manual and perform a hazard self-assessment on your property.  If you have questions, feel free to contact Fire Chief Andy Palaniak at (250) 395-0486.
